The Gypsy In My Soul
A gripping wartime story of love, loss, hope and survival
News & Events

March 2010

Thanks, everyone!

Many of you have read The Gypsy In My Soul by now, or have in some way shown support for the novel.  Thank you so much!  I have really enjoyed your encouraging emails, phone calls, and comments.  But, woe is me, I have neglected to keep up my website these last few months.  So I thought I would take a moment here to catch you up on all the latest news.

Promotions

Since "Gypsy"  came out, I have been busy with a number of book clubs, book signings, media events, and related promotions.  I was very pleased to have done the radio show "All About Books" with Otis Young before he passed away last year.  He was quite a guy, and I will always have a great memory of that afternoon.

I'm happy to report that these promotional activities have really helped with sales.  So if you know a book club or group that would be interested in having me come to one of their discussions, please have the host or hostess contact me at harriscmo@aol.com, or at 402-560-3145 or through my website, www.authorchristineharris.com.

Sequel....

Some of you have asked if there will be a sequel to "Gypsy." Well, to answer that question, I have a rough draft of about 30,000 words so far.  My outline calls for around 80,000 words, so I have a ways to go.  So, I guess the answer is "yes," I am working on a sequel to "Gypsy."  The setting is post-World War II/Cold War.  I would love to give you a guesstimate on when it will be finished, but I really don't have a clue. I'll try to keep you updated this year on how it is progressing.

Kindle Format

A very good piece of news is that "Gypsy" will be out in Kindle format sometime in March! So if you have friends or relatives who choose to do their reading electronically, please tell them they can soon purchase "Gypsy" in the Kindle store.

More News

For those of you who can't live without perfection, you should know that I had "Gypsy" reprinted early this year to correct some mistakes in the first printing. And at the same time, we changed the photo on the outside cover. It's not the best picture, but I have been told it looks more "author-ish" and the hair doesn't look so "fat" in it ???  Oh, and I added a quote from the Lincoln Journal Star on the book's front cover.

Regarding sales, "Gypsy" has done quite well regionally with very little marketing.  However, my publisher doesn't have the clout in the publishing industry that the large publishing houses do, so it is hard to move the novel into the mass market, so that is something I will continue to work on.

Arizona

Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, Arizona, has agreed to carry my novel on consignment, and it will be on display next month on the front shelf. This is the most popular independent bookstore in the Phoenix area, so I am thrilled that they have agreed to carry the book.

Thanks so much for your continuing interest in "Gypsy." I look forward to keeping you up to date on this website with the latest news.

Warm Regards,

Chris
